Ginza A-GoGo is newly opened on Walking Street next door to Nui's Club 2.

I was in Ginza last night around midnight. They did have draught beer for 65 baht as opposed to the 59 baht it costs during happy hour.

The upstairs bar is now open and features nude and topless dancers, while the downstairs dancers are now bikini-clad. However the upstairs bar is very tiny and only features 2 or 3 dancers at a time.

Warning about Severe Storms Hitting Thailand - Pattaya People

In the wake of the ongoing dreadful wet weather conditions in South East Asia, which is also hitting Thailand very badly, both the Meteorological Department and the Bali Hai Harbour Station announced warnings to all shipping and operators of water activities, including speedboats and Jet Skis, on Pattaya and Jomtien Beaches.   The cause of the problem is a storm nicknamed Gaemi, which is passing over South East Asia and has now approached Thailand.  The most vulnerable parts to be affected are in the Eastern (Issan) and Northern Regions, but the Eastern Seaboard and especially Pattaya is not let off the hook.  As one knows over the past few days there have been quite a few daily downpours causing flash flooding throughout the city and an estimated millions of baht of damage.  Roads and low level buildings have suffered from flooding with some underground car parks submerged.  Even though waves out at sea are not very high, the wind remains very strong and is deemed too dangerous for small to medium sized boats to venture out to sea.  Indeed, Koh Lan Ferries have cancelled full services temporarily until further notice.   The weather forecast predicts heavy rain and wind over the week with highs and lows of between 24 to 31 degrees centigrade.

Police Checkpoint Snags Eight Offenders - Pattaya People

On Tuesday right after midnight, the Pattaya Police led by Deputy Suppressing Inspector Pol. Lt. Pallop Ring-rod set a checkpoint at the top of Soi Buakhao 15. The dragnet brought in 8 men for drug related offences, including a 16-year-old-juvenile who was arrested with 4 bags of Crystal Meth weighed 1.3 grams in total and 10 tablets of Methamphetamine.

The boy had transformed himself into an up and coming drug trafficker in town, with the support of a friend he met at the Juvenile Observation and Protection Center. He had turned to dealing drugs, because working as a motorcycle taxi driver did not make enough money for him.  However, he could not escape the long arm of the law while riding his motorcycle past the checkpoint.

All 8 offenders were sent for a retest of their urine, to confirm the results from the test at the checkpoint, and further investigations and legal proceedings are in the offing.

Flood in Soi Bunganjanaraam Temple - Pattaya People

On Tuesday morning, Deputy Mayor Weerawat Kahkai and members of the Pattaya City Council visited Mare La-or Market on Soi Bungan-jana-raam Temple, in Jomtien.  Heavy rains had flooded the residential areas around the market and caused a great deal of damage and losses for the people.

The inspection team, led by the Deputy Mayor, found that this neighborhood was pan shaped, with the homes at the bottom of the pan. The worst hit area was inside Soi Bunganjanaraam 4, behind the Mare La-or Market, where many houses were flooded, and the water was reluctant to drain out to the sea.

Pattaya City Hall has started a project in an adjacent area to prevent flooding, using 2X2-meter-Converse Block Pipes. These pipes have been laid along Tepprasit to drain water to the sea more effectively and quickly, and this will certainly help the Bunganjanaraam area when completed in the middle of 2013.

Two Navy Officers Hurt, One Dies, in Road Accident - Pattaya People

On Thursday just before dawn, the Pattaya-Dongtan Police Investigating Inspector Pol. Col. Attaroet Krong-ratch were called to investigate an accident on Sukhumvit Road, at the traffic light in front of Pattaya School No. 7, on the out bound to Sattahip side. The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Team was also contacted for assistances.

At the scene right by the traffic lights, Petty Officer First Class Jakrapan Nantametin, aged 25 from the Sattahip Navy Base, was found lying on the road. The officer had sustained a serious head injury, and had lost a massive amount of blood. The rescuers gave the officer first aid, then took him to Pattaya Memorial Hospital. Then the police examined another body, also a naval officer, aged 25-30, who had died from a dreadful head injury and multiple fractures to his arms and legs. The body lay near a blue-black Honda Wave 110 motorcycle, which was also wrecked up on the sidewalk.

There were no eyewitnesses, so the police came to a preliminary conclusion that these 2 men were driving the motorcycle at extreme speed, coming out from Soi Wat Boon, and then turning towards Sattahip, when the driver lost control and crashed the bike into the sidewalk, injuring both of them. The police also suspect that there could have been another vehicle involved.

Further investigations will be made, and the body of the deceased was sent to Banglamung Hospital, awaiting the family.

On Tuesday evening, Chonburi Immigration Police arrested a 56 year old Australian male national at a bar and restaurant on Soi Noi in East Pattaya.   Mr. Luciano Glavina was arrested for suspected extortion, as he apparently recently posted nude photos of a Thai woman on the Internet, after she refused to pay up and be blackmailed.  Instead the unnamed woman contacted the police to take action as the photos have ruined her reputation.   Luciano, originally from Italy, was also accused of displaying explicit pornography on the Internet, and an arrest warrant was issued in Rayong Court since late September.  Immigration got involved and traced Luciano to Pattaya and surveyed the restaurant which was believed to be his favourite haunt.  Sure enough, he turned up that evening and was immediately arrested.  He denied all charges, but was detained before being sent to Rayong for further investigation.

Woman Rescued From Robbers - Pattaya People

On Sunday right after midnight, the Sriracha Police were called by people who reported an attempted theft and bodily harm on the Bangpra Reservoir-Naplaaw Road. The attack happened to woman, Mrs. Yupa Kreua-kaam, aged 49, who was abducted and slapped in her face many times by the 2 male robbers, aged 17-18.  These thugs had followed her on their motorbike, while she was riding her motorcycle home, taking her usual route. Then these ruffians drove up beside her, and shoved her motorcycle to the ground.

After her bike fell over and Yupa was lying on the ground, one of the robbers dragged her to sit in the front seat of the bike. Then he jumped on her bike to drive them into a dark bushy area, while the other thief drove the robber’s bike.

The one driving her bike threatened her to tell what was underneath the seat. Wisely, she did not tell them that it was 50,000 baht. She tried to look at the crook’s face, but she got slapped many times for trying. Then, passing a group of people sitting at Uncle Chob’s Restaurant, Yupa decided to scream out for help. She decided to risk it, as it was do or die at this point, because after this restaurant, there would only be bushy areas with no people, and she would probably be killed.

Clever Yupa decided to switch off the bike’s motor, and when the engine was off, she screamed again, and the locals ran out and saved her; however, the 2 robbers were able to flee the scene. The police started tracing the suspects immediately, and believe they must know of Yupa’s movements and work habits, and clearly expected to snag something valuable underneath her seat.

Shooting on Thepprasit Road - Pattaya People

On Sunday at 1:30 am, the Pattaya Police Deputy Suppressing Inspector Pol. Lt. Pallop ring-rod received a report of a shooting on Thepprasit Road, near the Weekend Market, where a group of teenagers were badly injured.

The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Team were contacted for assistance, and at the scene, a red-black Honda Scoopy motorcycle was found in the middle of the road, near 3 injured male teenagers, age 15-15-16. One of them had been shot in the middle of his back, one in his right arm and chest, leaving him in a severe condition, and one was spared by the gunshots, and only suffered scrapes from falling off the bike.

The 2 injured teens were given first aid, then sent to Banglamung Hospital. The teen who was uninjured stated that they were on their way back from a live concert in Laem Chabang, with a larger group of motorcyclists and passengers. When they arrived in Pattaya, they were about to drop one teen at his home in Soi Korpai, but they noticed a big group of motorcyclists following them. Then, a male teen from the bike gang pulled out a gun and started shooting at them, before fleeing to Sukhumvit Road.

Further investigations will be made, starting with the CCTV camera videos.  Officials expect that the motive for the shootings could be revenge by an old enemy, or even just a macho, gun-happy teenager showing off his new-found powers.
